Even when the it's as late as it can be in the calendar year, Labor Day weekend always comes too soon. To celebrate the holiday weekend, we put all of our favorite flavors of the season in one cocktail. Here's how to make our version of a blueberry mint julep:
"End of Summer Blues"
(Serves 2)
5 oz KOVAL Bourbon
5 oz KOVAL Bourbon
2 oz mint simple syrup*
2 oz mint blueberry puree**
crushed ice
fresh mint
Combine Bourbon, mint simple syrup, and mint blueberry purree together and shake with ice. Pour over crushed ice and garnish with mint.
*Mint simple syrup:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
1 bunch mint
Combine sugar, mint, and water in a saucepan and heat on high until it begins to boil. Reduce to low and stir for one minute. Cool completely and remove mint before using.
**Blueberry puree
1 1/4 cup blueberries
1/4 cup mint simple syrup
Puree blueberries and simple syrup in a blender or food processor.
Combine Bourbon, mint simple syrup, and mint blueberry purree together and shake with ice. Pour over crushed ice and garnish with mint.
